Working together

As the energy landscape changes, we need to listen to our stakeholders, so we can understand your changing needs and involve you in our plans. We want to gain insight from a wide range of people and organisations who have an interest in the work we do, so we can shape plans that reflect what is important to them.

Working together on our business plans

We care about the communities in which we work, the environment, and the views of people and organisations who have an interest in our work and our plans.

Decarbonisation, digitisation and decentralisation are all shaping the energy system of the future. We now face some important choices as we shape our business plans. And as we develop those plans, we want to gain insight from you, our stakeholders.

By working together, we can make sure we reflect what’s important to you in our business plans. It will also help us shape plans that provide real benefit for consumers.

Regular consultations

Understanding your views is an ongoing process. Over the past three years, you’ve told us we’ve made noticeable improvements in some areas but need to improve in others.

By consulting regularly with you to find out how you think we’re doing, we can see where we need to improve. Regular feedback also helps inform our ongoing business planning.

About RIIO

Our Gas Transmission business operates as a monopoly and is regulated by Ofgem through a framework known as RIIO (Revenue=Incentives+Innovation+Outputs).

RIIO makes sure we’re charging fair prices for the services we provide. The current regulatory period is known as RIIO-T1 and runs from 2013 to 2021.

We’re required to submit our business plans for the next regulatory period, RIIO-T2, by December 2019. By working with our stakeholders, we’re making sure we deliver what’s important to them and provide benefits for consumers.
